Shorter day with Jane and Brona, realizing my tent smells more than I'd like

August 31, Day 79. A Swedish cyclist camping in Bronas yard left a yogurt and note for me. Good start to the morning. Went down to the pier again, very quaint place, lots of beautiful boats and flowers along the harbor. Jane was joining today, another paddle friend so it was nice to catch up with her too. It was a glassy smooth morning, such a relief to the weeks on weeks of windy weather, always with some amount of swell. So was happy about that. The three of us set off and rounding another smaller headland. The gorgeous green beauty of Northern Ireland was shining and the bright rolling hills and colors were jaw dropping. The warm lighting made everything pop.

Once we had starting going towards Cushendun, the wind picked up behind us and nice to be pushed towards where we were going. As competent paddlers we all took a slightly different ferry angle to get there, and the Taran does best for me on an angle that shoots the shortest distance and hold a straight line versus go with it straight at my back and then have to turn and have it broad side. We got into the little harbor and it’s such a beautiful spot with a river and bridge coming out as well. Another successful day with friends. Brona and I and her kids got lunch at the castle in Glenarm and went back to her house on the hill side again. I washed and dried out my tent but am a bit sad about the mildew smell it now has. I’m not proud of myself for that one, I have left it in a wet heap in my boat for too long while staying with people.
