Getting Sonja, driving the boat

September 9-10, Day 87-88. Woke up late and tired because I knew that the wind had come in and it certainly did. I heard a voice at my tent saying "hi, kayaker? Would you like a cup of tea or anything?" and I unzipped the door to find who other than Sonja, who paddled around with Sue Honan years ago. What a funny coincidence. Her and her husband Des had me in their van out of the wind and rain for tea and Sonja made me a fry which I desperately needed. Before that I was dipping meat sticks into salsa just trying to get something down.

After a nice chat about the trip, Sonja and I went into the village to the shop so we could get a couple bits. It was nice to talk about the trip with someone who had done it and understood the things that went into it.

Came back and they were to be off to a different spot so we said farewell, I made some dinner and went on a very windy yet incredibly peaceful walk down the beach as the sun set.

This morning then, my friend Donal came to collect me to bring me back to Dublin. He's been an incredible help in various parts of this trip. My favorite part of moving the boat is when I tie it to the inside of a vehicle and then it rests on the back and I sit by it as we drive slow down the road. It's never for very long, but it always makes me laugh and is way faster than walking it on the trolley. Just some of those moments to remember. So we drove the boat to someones house at the end of the road where I was putting the boat in their garden for the week and off we went to Dublin.
