The start of a week of Donegal sunshine, dancing on the beach

September 18, Day 97. What an amazing day back on the water. Definitely felt the same aches and pains and my sciatica was flaring up but other than that it was so nice to get back to it. Donal and I had coffee at the house and then drove me back to my sweet lady the Pacific Selkie. So happy to see her again. It’s so funny that this is my normal at the moment and not my life in Dublin. I thought about my trip the whole time being back, just craving more. So we did the back of the van wheeling back down to the foggy night navigation beach and I loaded my things while Donal set up my drone to take some shots as I was paddling away. Got going and heard the wizzing of the drone and saw it overhead. Good to have some footage.

Not much of note, crossed Mulroy noticing a bit of tide pushing me out but not much. Went around Horn head, the wind was offshore so that didn’t affect me but I feel like the tide turned earlier than the correction for Tory sound because I was there at slack and could feel considerable resistance. Then once I rounded the corner I could feel the eddy helping me along. Came into Tramore beach and what a gorgeous place. So remote and beautiful white sand and bright blue sea. I got there around 6 so I had such a fun dance session and ran around on the beach and danced and it was so hot and warm that I had bare feet, a sports bra and my hair down which is so rare. It was really fun just to frolic and dance. Had an Asian noodle dinner that I made at home and brought so didn’t have to use my stove which was nice. Called a couple people to show them the unreal sunset and my set up. My mom said wow you’re already back out! She’s happy for me.

The sun set and the heat went away so I closed up hatches that were drying and got in my tent. Just now before falling asleep I went out to pee and the tide is a hundred meters out. It’s the biggest tides of the year tomorrow so it took me 5 minutes to walk to the very shore and it is still going down. The moon was insane. It is shining through my tent like a friendly street lamp now and it was shining on the very long sandy beach so blue and illuminated and just gorgeous.
